Distance that separates us

Dear distance,

You have taught me a lot through all these years of my life.

Its because of you I started  loving people  even when I do not know them.

I love these unknown people …I wish to meet all them at least once in a my life time.

But when I wanted to reach out to them, I  can’t, because you won’t let me. You made me crave for them in a way I knew only love can.

You have made me fall out of love with people, when you crept in between us, and reduced years of togetherness to just a small “Hi. How are you? I have been good. Are you busy right now? Sure, will call you later.” over the phone.

You.have made me cry and howl and throw things across the room, frustrated that I couldn’t have the one person that I wanted to have in my arms right then.

You’ve made me spend days, months, years, in  anticipation of just an hour long meet, which I would then cherish for the next few months to come.
Its you who has made me learn that everything is temporary, except a very few things and relationships.

But then its  also you who has made me believe more in love.

You have made me believe that no matter what anyone says, love is always enough. If two people really love each other, even you can’t let them be apart at heart.

You have made love even more beautiful, more powerful.

That burst of happiness that I feel on meeting the person I love after long, makes me sure that this love is never going away.

You are what love essentially needs, in little doses. You are what makes love complete.

You have made love stronger for me.

Because I know, if we could brave through you, nothing else is hard enough.

Life

Life isn’t about finding yourself,

Life is about creating yourself.

~George Bernard Shaw

When it comes to Creation, the first thing that occupies my mind is Artist. In addition to that, I belong to such generation where arts and artists inspire people to explore the artist residing in themselves, hiding in some particular corner, dominated by the fear, frustration, anger, jealousy.

I appreciate the fact that when it comes to Creation, we are able to link it to a part of ourselves, the artist.

But, most importantly, like any other act, Creation should also start with oneself, that is creating oneself. No matter, how hard he/ she tries, how many characters he/she blows life into, how many characters he/she puts his pieces inside, if an artist fails to create himself (no better version but a truer one)- whether in words or strokes, he/she is incomplete.

And as it’s not really needed to be reminded that Art is Life,

Life is not about finding your pieces in Art,

Rather creating a whole you in the Art.

And, not a belief but fact that every person is an artist,

Lots of love to everyone- explored, unexplored or yet to be explored ones.

Spring

Mornings during spring are beautiful, but I had never been able to notice this. Why?

Because spring always came just before my school exams. That was a time of drastic measures and solitary confinement.

By the time  exams got over, spring would start to retreat. And once school ended, I got too busy with life to enjoy anything anyway.

But thankfully, spring is stubborn. It cares. It keeps coming back. It knows me.

As a toddler, I remember sleeping next to a window which used to be opened every morning.

I used to wake up to the sound of birds cooing, to the fragrance of a multitude of fresh flowers blooming, to the sight of yellows, whites and reds hanging from the trees outside.

I could hear spring, smell spring, see spring.

Vajrasana

This is what I have started doing in the early morning when I wake up and before I go for a morning walk.I have been experiencing benefits of it too.

VAJRSANA

Sanskrit: वज्रासन; Vajra – Diamond or Thunderbolt, Asana – Pose; Pronounced as vahj-RAH-sah-na

Vajrasana is a kneeling pose, and it takes its name from the Sanskrit word Vajra (वज्), which means diamond or thunderbolt. Asana (आसन), of course, means pose. This diamond pose is also called Adamintine Pose. Usually, breathing exercises like Pranayama, Kapalabhati, and Anulon Vilom are done sitting in this position, and it is said that in doing so, the body becomes as strong as a diamond.

How To Do The Vajrasana

Kneel down, stretching your lower legs backward and keeping them together. Your big toes should cross each other.

Gently lower your body such that your buttocks are resting on your heels and your thighs on your calf muscles.

Place your hands on your knees, and set your gaze forward with your head absolutely straight.

Turn your attention to your breathing. Be fully aware of how you breathe and carefully observe as you inhale and exhale.

You could close your eyes to concentrate on your breathing and to calm your mind.

Try to stay in this position for a minimum of 5 to 10 minutes.

As a beginner, when you assume this position, it is likely that your legs might begin to pain in no time. If this happens, all you need to do is undo the asana, and stretch your legs forward. Give your ankles, knees, and calf muscles a good massage. In time, with practice, you should be able to go up to 30 minutes comfortably in this asana.

Also, beginners should work slowly and gradually on bettering the strength of the muscles in the lower back before they try to go deeper into the pose or increasing the duration. Once the lower back is strengthened, the strain on the breath is decreased. It is also important to note that if you push yourself more than your body can take, the benefits of the pose are minimized.

The Science Behind Vajrasana

The Vajrasana is a steady, firm pose, and those who assume it cannot be shaken easily. It is a meditative pose, but sitting in this pose can be quite challenging. One has to conquer the pain in the legs and the unrest in the mind to master the pose and enter a meditative state. One needs to train themselves to sit still and be willing to invest their mind in it.

The Vajrasana regulates blood circulation in the lower pelvic region. Sitting on your legs reduces the blood flow in the legs and increases it in the digestive area, therefore increasing the efficiency of the digestive system.

Poetic thoughts

POETRY IS basically something mysterious.

Educated people know what a poem is, but wise poets go on writing because they really don’t know what a poem is, so every poem, in its uniqueness, is a part of the quest to find out.

It is not possible to know poetry without trying to understand the individuals that make up the world, the bigger mystery in the big picture.

A poem is not a thing, but a combination of good and bad traits that lend credence to our individual poetic voices. When we cross pens with other poets, we exchange our own characteristics with them.

We may not have solved the mystery, but are closer to knowing poetry by being closer to other poets.

Parachute

Air Commodore Vishal was a Jet Pilot. In a combat mission his fighter plane was destroyed by a missile. He however ejected himself and parachuted safely. He won acclaims and appreciations from many.

After five years one day he was sitting with his wife in a restaurant. A man from another table came to him and said “You’re Captain Vishal ! You flew jet fighters. You were shot down!”

“How in the world did you know that?” asked Vishal.

“I packed your parachute,” the man smiled and replied.

Vishal gasped in surprise and gratitude and thought if parachute hadn’t worked, I wouldn’t be here today.

Vishal couldn’t sleep that night, thinking about that man. He wondered how many times I might have seen him and not even said ‘Good morning, how are you?’ or anything because, he was a fighter pilot and that person was just a safety worker”

So friends, who is packing your parachute?

Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through the day.

We need many kinds of parachutes– we need the physical parachute, the mental parachute, the emotional parachute, and the spiritual parachute.

We call on all these supports before reaching safety.

Sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important.

We may fail to say hello, please, or thank you, congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, give a compliment, or just do something nice for them.

I just want to thank everyone who packed my parachute through your words, deeds, prayers, good wishes and advice. Don’t want to take any of you for granted . Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart with all my love.
